The American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®) has recognized Lowell General Hospital as one of 89 ACS NSQIP participating hospitals that have achieved meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care in 2019.  As a participant in ACS NSQIP, Lowell General is required to track the outcomes of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and collect data that assesses patient safety and can be used to direct improvement in the quality of surgical care.

Lowell General Hospital received its first delivery of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday, December 18, morning and began staff vaccination clinics the next day.

MelroseWakefield Hospital officially began administering the COVID-19 vaccine to frontline workers working directly with COVID patients last Wednesday afternoon.

Front-line workers were the first to get vaccinated for COVID-19 in a landmark day soaked with emotion and optimism at MelroseWakefield.

“I’m absolutely going to get it, yes!,” said Dr. Steven Sbardella, the chief medical officer at MelroseWakefield Hospital. “I hope to be one of the first ones to get it.”

Frontline workers at Tufts Medical Center are among the first people in Boston to get the coronavirus vaccine.

Caregivers at Tufts, as well as colleagues at two sister community hospitals, MelroseWakefield Hospital and Lowell General Hospital, were selected to be vaccinated Tuesday as hospitals start providing the first of the two shots required for the vaccine.
