The Joint Camp education sessions, offered at no charge, help prepare you for your upcoming joint replacement surgery. You’ll meet our multi-disciplinary team, get your questions answered, learn how to ensure the best possible outcome in your recovery and achieve a more active lifestyle.

Why attend?

Over 90% of patients who attended the Joint Camp between 2020 and 2022 were able to go home straight from the hospital without needing rehab. Patients were also 2x less likely to require a rehab stay after hospitalization.

When: Thursdays from 10:30 – 11:30 am
Where: Hickey Conference Room, 3rd floor at MelroseWakefield Hospital
Check in: Pre-Surgical Testing on the 3rd floor
Optional: Bring a Joint Champion, a friend or family member, to assist during your journey.

Meet our Joint Camp team

Case manager: Discuss options for services after your hospital stay.

Nutritional services: A registered dietitian provides dietary assistance to aid in wound healing and strength.

PeriAnesthesia nursing: Reviews the process for the day of surgery, delivers hands-on training for equipment used during the recovery period, and shares anesthesia and pain management options to promote a safer and quicker recovery.

Inpatient nurse team: Provides information on the hospital setting.

Physical and occupational therapy: Provides education about exercises and equipment to help you prepare for surgery plus what to expect for the physical recovery process.
