Methuen Couple Welcomes Year’s First Baby

January 1, 2022

When Nayara Nascimento went into labor on the morning of December 31, she thought she might have one of the last babies of 2021. Instead, her labor lasted 24 hours, and when little Emily entered the world at 2:47 a.m., she became Lowell General’s first baby of year.

Proud parents Leandro and Nayara Nascimento live in Methuen but are originally from Brazil, where much of their family lives. They said they received outstanding care, which included a special New Year’s themed gift basket put together by the Maternal Child Health team.

Each year, more than 2,000 babies are born at Lowell General Hospital. To learn more about why so many families choose the patient-centered comfort and care provided at The Birthplace at Lowell General, visit Maternity Services.
