In celebration of Mother's Day, Tufts Medical Center nurses Renee and Emma Bothwell share what makes their role at Tufts MC special. This mother and daughter team are dedicated professionals who take great pride in being a part of the Tufts MC culture.
Renee Bothwell, RN is a clinical leader on Proger 5 ICU. Renee has been at Tufts MC for more than two decades. Recently, her daughter, Emma, joined the nursing staff at Tufts MC. "I couldn't be happier that Emma is now a part of the Tufts MC family," she said.
What do you like most about your role as a clinical leader?
I love having the ability to be a resource to new graduates and our new ICU nurses. I take great joy in being of service to fellow nurses.
Being a nurse in the ICU means I am able to care for critically ill patients and support their families during difficult times.
What do you like about working at Tufts MC?
It feels like we belong to a family here. I love how Tufts MC employees work as a team.
Emma Bothwell, RN (left) is a staff nurse on Floating 7. She joined Tufts MC in November 2022. While pursuing a role in nursing has always been her passion, Emma says her mom's job had a major influence on her career decision. And seeing the joy her mother took in caring for others made a big impact as she thought about her future, "I have always wanted to be able to help and care for others," Emma said.
What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy getting to meet different people and taking care of my patients.
What do you like about working at Tufts MC?
There is a wonderful sense of community at Tufts Medical Center. As a new graduate, the Floating 7 staff have been very welcoming and they made it easy to transition into my role as a registered nurse. I always feel supported while at work. And I enjoy working with my mom as it allows me to spend more time with her and learn more about the different aspects of nursing.
