Michelle is a huge part of the Lowell General Hospital team, first serving as a nurse in the Mother Infant Unit for 37 years. She retired in November 2017, but always stayed involved with Lowell General initiatives and close with her Lowell General family.

Finding that she had extra time on her hands and wishing to be of service, Michelle officially joined the Lowell General Hospital Volunteer team in July 2019 and has volunteered over 700 hours and counting! Michelle has heavily supported various departments and initiatives including our Cancer Center, Mass Vaccination Program, Chest & Immunization Center, Employee Flu and Booster Clinics, Surgical Day Care Unit and more. She always answers the call to help and is willing to go wherever she is needed, pouring her heart and soul into all she does and making such an impact for our patients and staff.

A total of 26 volunteers were selected throughout New England and each non-profit organization served by these volunteers received a generous $10,000 grant from the Kraft Family, New England Patriots Foundation and Gillette. The grant in honor of Michelle’s volunteer service will support a cause near and dear to her heart, TeamWalk for CancerCare and helping cancer patients and families in need.

Michelle shares, “I am overwhelmed and humbled to be among so many deserving volunteers. As a retired registered nurse of 45 years, I think it’s in my nature to continue in the service of others. As I often tell people when they ask why I volunteer so much, it’s because it is so rewarding. To make others feel comfortable and cared for, at a time when they feel so vulnerable, is my mission and I hope to encourage others to do the same. Thank you to the Kraft Family, New England Patriots Foundation and Gillette for this incredible honor and for the generous donation to an organization that is like family to me, Lowell General Hospital.”
