- Educational Experience: Our world renowned faculty are dedicated to teaching and have a wide range of clinical and research expertise in areas such as chronic kidney disease, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, transplantation, polycystic kidney disease, cardio-renal syndrome, glomerular diseases, and much more. - Rich Outpatient Exposure: Nephrology care is primarily delivered in the outpatient setting, and we provide a particularly rich exposure in our ambulatory clinics. You will care for a diverse patient population with complex kidney diseases that include glomerular diseases, kidney stones, cancer-associated kidney diseases, rare disorders, and pregnancy-associated conditions.
- Robust Dialysis Program: One of the only programs in Boston that provides a longitudinal outpatient hemodialysis experience and longitudinal outpatient home dialysis (HD and PD) experience. Fellows are exceptionally well trained in dialysis in general, and peritoneal dialysis in particular.
- Explore Nephrology Pathways: Tufts is able to customize each fellow’s training experience according to their unique interests and career goals. In their second year, fellows select a pathway for focused study and receive a curriculum specific to their interests with mentorship and individualized rotations. They complete the program with expertise that allows them to be leaders in their chosen area.
- Strong Mentorship: Based on your career path and interests, you work with a specific mentor to guide and support you throughout the program. This relationship lasts a lifetime; many of our alumni still work very closely with their mentors.
- Transplant Experience: All fellows have a dedicated transplant continuity rotations managing all aspects of transplantation, from initial evaluation of donors/recipients to post-transplant follow up.
- Teaching Experience: We prepare you to be educators by including you in the teaching of internal medical housestaff and Tufts medical students. Fellows are encouraged to be small group leaders in the 1st year Renal Course at Tufts University School of Medicine.
