The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported an alarming spike in newborn congenital syphilis cases over the past decade.

At Tufts Medical Center’s CardioVascular Center, we focus on excellence and collaboration, always keeping the patient at the center of all we do. We are the region’s largest heart failure and cardiac transplant program, giving new life to more transplant patients than any other New England program in the last 10 years. We are experts in specialized procedures to address complex valvular and structural heart disorders, cardiac arrhythmias and atherosclerotic disease throughout the heart and body.

The CME Program at Lowell General Hospital was awarded ACCME Accreditation with Commendation for demonstrating excellence in compliance in all Accreditation Criteria and accreditation policies. Lowell General Hospital's accreditation term ends on March 28, 2029. Lowell General Hospital received approval from the American Board of Medical Specialties (“ABMS”) to award Maintenance of Certificate (MOC) credits for all CME programs and events. This is in addition to the AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).

A Renewed Opportunity To Make Ourselves Aware of End-Of-Life Care

In this Boston Globe letter to the editor, Tufts Medicine Care at Home Chief Medical Officer Bernice Burkarth, MD, HMDC, FAAHPM shares her perspective on end-of-life care in light of former President Jimmy Carter’s recent decision to enter hospice care.

The hospital increased resident salaries 4% this year and are providing all residents with a $5,000 stipend.

Residents receive a matching retirement contribution of 3%.

Vacation: All residents are provided three weeks of vacation per year and 3 personal days per year.

Parental Leave: The program provides 6 weeks of parental leave for the birth or adoption of a child with the option to take an additional 6 weeks under the Family Medical Leave Act. The hospital provides a dedicated lactation space, as well.

The hospital provides a comprehensive flexible benefits program that includes health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, long/short-term disability, white coats/scrubs (and laundry for these), and malpractice insurance.
