MelroseWakefield Hospital

As a staple of the communities just north of Boston, MelroseWakefield Hospital provides the residents ample opportunities to learn in a high volume community hospital. This rotation provides residents with many vascular and general surgery cases in addition to providing a higher level of autonomy and decision making. During their PGY-1, PGY-3 and PGY-4 years residents learn efficiency and teamwork within a multi-disciplinary model.

Boston Children’s Hospital

To provide the pediatric clinical and operative experience to our trainees at the PGY3 level, a total of 2 months is spent with the Pediatric Surgery department at Boston Children’s Hospital. This agreement has proven to be a busy and robust rotation for our trainees.

Rotations Callout
Our Surgical Residency program works with 2 local community hospitals so that our trainees can experience a localized healthcare approach and a diverse case load.

The small size of our program allows for in-depth training with a true commitment to patient care and outcomes.

Surgery Residency

A feeling of community

Our small class size also makes it easy for residents to really get to know and form collegial working relationships with our faculty, which is made up of full-time staff who are nationally recognized leaders in a number of surgical specialties. Our faculty is committed to helping the general surgery residents succeed.

A fully-accredited program

The Surgery Residency at Tufts is a 5-year ACGME fully accredited program. In addition to the Surgery Residency, we also have a 2-year ACGME accredited Vascular Surgery Fellowship as well as a 2-year ACGME accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship.

Our Surgical Residency program offers clinically and academically centered training in a friendly and welcoming environment.
