The experience is designed to give fellows a pre-practice opportunity to exercise judgment and build superior technical and teaching skills.

Fellows matching into the program will begin the fellowship on August 1 and complete it the following July 31.

Train and work with leading hand specialists

Each fellow will complete the same three-month rotations, comprising 6 months at Tufts Medical Center and six months at New England Baptist Hospital/Hand Center at Boston Sports and Shoulder Center. Clinical rotations offer a singular hands-on experience. You will develop exceptional surgical skills, nonsurgical treatment approaches and superior diagnostic and decision-making abilities.

The formal curriculum includes a weekly hand surgery conference at Tufts MC, a monthly Hand Journal Club and a monthly conference dedicated to rare hand surgery topics. Additionally, fellows will attend a week-long micro-surgery course and are provided numerous opportunities to become involved in clinical and basic research.

The Tufts Medical Center Combined Hand Surgery Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center accepts two fellows each year.

We’ve been dedicated to breaking new ground in understanding and treating the urinary system since 1893, when Dr. J. Cushing Allison taught the first urology classes at Tufts University and in the 1960s, when we developed a special laboratory for evaluating patients with neuropathic bladder dysfunction.

Our department includes more than 200 pathologists, medical technologists, medical technicians, phlebotomists and administrative staff who touch nearly every medical specialty at Tufts Medicine. It’s this spirit of collaboration and pursuit of pathology excellence that earned our department the prestigious College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation — an award bestowed to only 8,000 facilities worldwide.
